Once a year, we open our doors a little wider.
Champagne Day is one of our most treasured gatherings – an occasion reserved for members and their closest friends and family to step fully into the world of Champagne and HATT et SÖNER. This years event will be rather exceptional.
Throughout the day, we will be serving a curated selection of Swedish and French delicacies. Including – oysters, lobster, langoustine and foie gras - accompanied by champagne poured with a generous hand.
Come the afternoon, we shall be hosting the World Championship in Sabrage. We encourage you to arrive with confidence as those who accept the challenge will not depart empty handed.
As evening settles in, expect the unexpected. We have joined forces with a number of exceptional partners who share our conviction that an evening worth attending should take you somewhere altogether unforeseen.
A note on attendance
This is a members-only occasion. Each member is welcome to bring up to three guests.
Should you wish to bring a larger party, we invite you to reach out to us directly at maximilian@hatt-soner.com
The venue accommodates no more than 150 guests. We would encourage you not to delay signing up - in excess of 200 people have already joined the waitlist.
The evening takes place aboard the steamship Motala Express, moored at Strandvägen (Ångbåtsbryggan).

The name HATT et SÖNER
When deciding upon a new name for the house we had to take into consideration that the French government demands a surname or forename in the brand.
We chose HATT, which is the Swedish word for hat, bringing our story full-circle and paying homage to the family’s relationship to their millinery background. SÖNER is the Swedish word for sons, as we are three generations of family Ruscon and Vallois sons involved in the house, so far.
Our story
Together Kristofer, his father Michel, the Vallois family and their investors soon discovered that change was necessary in order to move beyond what once had been and thus the idea of creating a bold, innovative champagne house was born. From that moment the house has steadily grown with a strong and powerful mission to make a real difference, in Champagne itself and beyond. The Vallois family had worked in viniculture for four generations and thus had a proud tradition behind them.
Today HATT et SÖNER has taken many of the steps to follow along the path we set out on over a decade ago including the joyous change of heart by Céline Vallois, Francois' daughter who took the role as the head winemaker. Together we look to the future with great anticipation and excitement while always staying true to the legacy of our past.
Joseph Ruscon celebrated his 98th birthday and the occasion was of course fêted with the opening a bottle of champagne dedicated to the man himself, Le Grand-Père, a bottle that holds a story, our story, that began many years ago.
Toward the end of the seventies Joseph frequented blind Champagne tastings and it was at one of them that he tasted the Champagne created by the Vallois family that was to become what HATT et SÖNER is today.
Despite the friendship that grew between the two families of Ruscon and Vallois, never did Joseph imagine that thirty years later his grandson would inextricably link them together by the love of his grandfather's Champagne of choice. Over the next three years Kristofer nurtured that tiny seed to carefully spread its roots and become the foundation of what HATT et SÖNER is today.
What we do
HATT et SÖNER may not be the oldest or largest champagne house, but it is unquestionably the most daring. The world of champagne is a tapestry of earth, time, and transformation, embodying the alchemy of nature and human touch. Our passion and handicraft shows itself in our cuvées.
Our vineyards are carefully chosen and acquired among the top quality terroir of Champagne; in the Grands and Premiers Cru villages of La Côte des Blancs, cultivating the finest grape of them all - Chardonnay (while using just some Pinot Noir for our Rosé wine).
Each of our wines have an identity, far from the standardisation of taste, created in the intersection between heaven, earth and man.
